Growing in Christ during College

I transferred to The University of Texas at Austin from a college in Washington State. Moving to Texas was a bit traumatic for me as I was now very far away from my family, friends and even the Northwest culture in which I had grown up. In a sense I had to start over. But I knew that no matter where I went to college, I needed to be with other Christians with whom I could pursue Christ (2 Timothy 2:22) and grow in Him (Ephesians 4:15).

From my first days on campus, I could see that, with so many demands on my attention and time, I had to have other Christians to help me be anchored against the tide of campus life (1 Peter 4:4). I wanted my time in college to be profitable not only in my studies, but also unto the Lord.

In Christians on Campus I found a group of believers who love the Lord. They encouraged me to get into His Word and to know Him in a deeper, more intimate way. Whenever we would meet together on campus for just 50 minutes during the school day I would be refreshed. I sometimes came tired and weighed down with my concerns. They would listen to my problems, offer their help and always lead me to Christ. These times enabled me to look away from my personal situation to this wonderful Person. I would leave full of joy and love for the Lord, and encouraged and strengthened to face the rest of my day. I am so thankful for this group because with them I have a way to grow in the Lord during my college years.
